A new 80,000 square foot mental and
physical health complex is planned for central Stockton. San Joaquin
County Health Care Services has long been an advocate for a holistic
approach to care. That is why the new Mental Health Master Plan focuses on
the parity of mental and physical health, linking medical doctors with
mental health clinicians to treat the entire person. A new Family Health
Center will be located at the corner of California and Harding streets in
Stockton. Flagship programs, such as Health Beginnings Prenatal Care and
Children's Health Services will be co-located with mental health services,
including family counselors, in a team-oriented treatment facility.

When Phase 1 of San Joaquin General
Hospital opened in 1996, it showcased its state-of-the-art Family
Maternity Center, new and efficient Emergency Room, high-tech surgery
center and spacious inpatient rooms. Then, in 1998, the hospital built a
convenient outpatient services center for primary and specialty care.
Building for tomorrow's needs, San Joaquin General Hospital will begin Phase 2 of the hospital's replacement facility to meet the State of California's low for seismic safety. When completed, the hospital's Centers of Excellence, including Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatrics and more, will move into new facilities and lead to collaborative opportunities with other health care providers.
Driven by excellence, providers are implementing a medical-psychiatric inpatient unit, which will provide patients with special needs a more comfortable, secure environment. And, building on its reputation for setting a single standard of care for emergency medical services, San Joaquin County Health Care Services is pursuing the evaluation of a state-of-the-art trauma system and trauma center for the entire County.
