Application Procedures

Our Program will be accepting only ERAS applications - paper applications will not be accepted. Our Program fills the four positions through the National Residency MATCH Program (NRMP); therefore, you must be registered with them. The deadline for completing the application process is November 30 of each year. Any applications not received by the deadline will not be reviewed nor will you be considered for an interview. All applications must meet these criteria and have the required documents:

1. ERAS application
2. Dean's Letter & Transcripts
3. Three letters of recommendation
4. Personal Statement (include educational plans and specialty)
5. USMLE Score(s): 85 and above on all parts taken (on first attempt)
6. Applicants must have graduated from medical school within three years prior to applying.
7. The Hospital is unable to sponsor any type of immigration Visas but does accept the ECFMG sponsored J1 visa.
8. All IMG's applying to the Program needs to have a California Medical Board Applicant Evaluation Status Letter or indicate to us that it is being processed - you cannot commence residency in California without this letter.
9. All IMG's applying to the Program should have a valid ECFMG Certificate or indicate to us that it is being processed - you cannot commence residency without this certificate.

 

Interview Process

Our one-year Transitional Program is very competitive with only 4 first-year positions available each academic year, and we receive approximately 200 applications every year. The Selection Committee reviews the applications. Interviews are granted by invitation only. Interviews will be conducted approximately from mid-November through mid-January. We will try to schedule this interview with the applicant's convenience in mind. Applicants will be notified of the Matching Program results (NRMP) in early spring of the year preceding postgraduate training, to begin late June.
